Browns rookie quarterback acknowledges he has something to prove

It is still two months away from the Cleveland Browns’ 2025 training camp. Already, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is finding avenues to express the proverbial “chip on his shoulder” with being selected in the fifth round of the NFL draft instead of being a Day 1 draft choice.

Sanders is one of this year’s draft’s most famous athletes. Add the fact that his draft spot dropped five found from where many had him evaluated and his notoriety exploded. He will compete for the starting role, in which the Browns have five QBs in camp, including fellow draft pick Dillon Gabriel from Oregon, who was taken in Round 3.

The Gatorade Company, owned and manufactured by PepsiCo, has forever tried to convey in their advertisements for athletes to give it all they have, and to remember that underdogs can become champions.

And what better underdog for the 2025 NFL season is there than Sanders? And if he competes and becomes the Browns’ starting quarterback this year or the next, it would truly become a story of legends.

Gatorade has placed Sanders in their new ad.

In the ad, footballs are shown being tossed at a “Pro Down Pass and Snap Football Training Aide Net,” which has an attached bullseye in the center. Each pass attempt strikes the dead center of the bullseye. As more passes strike the target, the narrative states:

“Lose time. Lose friends. Lose nights. Lose mornings. Lose more sweat than I knew I had. But lose the target I have on my back?”

Sanders then comes into frame, looks directly into the camera and states:

“Nah.”

Sanders then grabs one more football, throws another pass, which also strikes the bullseye as his back cradles towards the camera while the back of his shirt prominently displays “Sanders.”

He then walks away as the final frame displays, “Is it in you?”

Obviously, Cleveland training camp will be must-see TV this year. No matter what Sanders does, the entire league will be watching him.

Which means the Browns are on everyone’s mind.
