The Cleveland Browns head into the weekend of Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season with injury issues. TE David Njoku has been ruled out, while five others are questionable for the game, and bigger questions surround the leadership of the team. No one looks at the Browns roster like anything more than a middle-of-the-road or worse squad with needs.
That doesn’t mean HC Kevin Stefanski is getting the most out of the team either.
With questions up and down Cleveland’s roster, it is no surprise that GM Andrew Berry continues to look to find answers, even if it is shuffling deck chairs as he did with the CB Greg Newsome II for CB Tyson Campbell trade. The Browns brought in six players for workouts on Friday as a part of that process:
A quick review of each player:
- Jack Conley – Primarily a guard, Conley stands 6’7” and was an undrafted free agent signing of the New England Patriots last year. He’s bounced on and off the Pats practice squad
- Marcellus Johnson – Also primarily a guard, Johnson stands 6’5”, signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent, also last year. Johnson has been on three practice squads in the last two seasons
- Layden Robinson – A fourth-round pick of New England’s in 2024, Robinson was released from their injured reserve just a few days ago. He played in 13 games last season, over 600 snaps on offense, as a guard, but a change in regimes has led to a huge turnover on the Patriots roster
- Tre Hawkins III – A sixth-round pick of the Giants in 2023, Hawkins has played in 20 games, primarily as an outside cornerback.
- Tyron Herring – A “preseason hero” for the Green Bay Packers this year, Herring joined New England’s practice squad after being released. The UDFA cornerback out of Delaware has good size at 6’1” and 236 pounds
- Glendon Miller – A long, 6’2” defensive back, Miller played cornerback in college but looks best suited for a safety role in the NFL. Miller spent training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs before being released on cutdown day
