Attempting to predict what Cleveland’s WR room will look like in Week 1
The Cleveland Browns have a lot of wide receivers in the building right now, and it’s going to be a battle until the very end of the preseason for quite a few of them.
As of right now, there appears to be a top three of Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Diontae Johnson, but behind them, it’s an all-out war for the final three roster spots.
These four guys are most likely competing for the last few spots in the wide receiver room:
The team brought in an inordinate number of receivers this offseason to maximize the reps of Cleveland’s four quarterbacks throughout the summer.
Though this has highlighted the abilities of guys like Mentor native Luke Floriea and Kaden Davis when given a legitimate opportunity, they’re probably both practice-squad options at best right now. It’s also going to be interesting to see why the team brought back Jaelen Gill, who was with the team for a short period of time in 2024.
Based on past performance and what we already know right now, the six receivers that would be on the initial 53-man roster would most likely be:
David Bell would probably get the boot if Woods II can stay healthy enough to make it to Week 1. Bell has shown that he does everything right, but it could be time to give Woods II a longer look in 2025.
Michael Woods II has great size and athletic ability, but he just hasn't been able to stay active for Cleveland over the past three seasons.
