Dawgs By Nature
The story of the 2026 Cleveland Browns will be the quarterback competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders. HC Todd Monken was not ready to name a starter after mandatory minicamp, so the competition will linger into training camp. Unless the Sanders trade rumors, which could have just been radio fodder during a downtime, actually have some legs.
Sanders performance as a rookie was not enough for him to secure the spot as the Browns QB of the Future. Some of the blame can be attributed to the offensive line, weapons, and system in place last year. Sanders was a big hit off the field with jersey sales and has a lot of fans and media who believe in his upside.
According to Nathan Zegura, who works for the team, Sanders has shown a lot of improvement this offseason:
As Zegura notes at the end of the video, all of that has come against air, with no certainty that the improvement will translate when camp opens.
In general, and as a Browns employee, Zegura leans on the more positive side of things. He’s also one of the few media people allowed to watch most or all practices and has access to the building year-round.
What do you make of Zegura’s comments about Sanders so far this offseason?
