“Four quarterbacks, one starting job.”
With that, the Cleveland Browns new series “Man Under Center” ushered us into a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s quarterback competition between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Only Flacco, the team’s QB1 so far in training camp, has stayed healthy through the process so far, but he did not play in the first preseason game and is unlikely to do so against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
Sanders, fresh off exciting the world against the Panthers, will miss Saturday’s matchup against the Eagles as well. Trying to predict the Browns QB room is tough, but has been made tougher by Pickett and Gabriel having hamstring issues and, now, Sanders’ oblique issue.
Now we find out that the team’s media wing has turned the four-person competition into more content, narrated by Andrew Siciliano. Early in the first episode, we are promised access to what the coaches see and hear from the quarterbacks, including a desire for each quarterback to sound the same in the huddle.
The coaches also talked about wanting each QB to lead in their own way.
The video does a good job of providing thoughts about each quarterback individually, with HC Kevin Stefanski, OC Tommy Rees and QB coach Bill Musgrave giving insight as well as hearing from each quarterback.
It will be interesting to see the complete series overall and how much access the Browns will allow.
What do you think about the team doing this “Man Under Center” series? Anything stand out to you from the first episode?
