Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett shocked the NFL world on Monday when he requested a trade out of Cleveland. After a 3-14 season, he thinks the prime of his career is being wasted. He wants to play for a contender.
Browns four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward hinted if Garrett goes, he may want to leave as well. Tight end David Njoku also made a plea for Garrett at Super Bowl media row.
“Come on dawg, stay home bro,” Njoku told Mike Golic Jr. and Adam Lefkoe. “He knows who I’m talking to. Stay home. Come on, give it another shot. We ain’t that far off, honestly speaking.
“That’s my brother man. We came in the same time, same round everything. We’ve been there the same amount of time. We’ve seen the lowest of lows, the highest of highs in our team. I don’t think we’re done yet. I know he wants to win. I know he wants to be great, he wants to be a champion. And so do I. We already got this far. We didn’t come this far just to come this far. I think we’re close, we just need a healthy quarterback.”

Browns general manager Andrew Berry said he wasn’t even interested in trading Garrett for two first-round picks.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reveals that has not changed.
“Cleveland has been made aware of Myles Garrett’s trade request. The team’s stance has not changed,” Rapoport wrote. “Teams, of course, will call on a superstar in his prime.”

Garrett, 29, is coming off the seventh straight season of his NFL career with double-digit sacks and fourth straight with 14 or more. He has been named to six Pro Bowls and is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Garrett signed a five-year, $125 million extension in 2020, which leaves two years left on the deal. His contract carries salary-cap hits of $19.7 million and $20.4 million in 2025 and 2026.
Garrett said at Super Bowl Media row that he can “fill that role” of a pass rusher for the Washington Commanders.
Garrett also appeared on the “Rich Eisen Show” while on Radio Row at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, and explained why he went public about his trade demand.
“I just felt it was time,” Garrett told Eisen. “I had taken my time after the season, kind of relaxed and decompressed emotionally, wanted to distance myself a little bit and spent a little time talking to my family about how we feel about this decision.”
