Dawgs By Nature
It is Week 8, as the Cleveland Browns are feeling good after trouncing the Miami Dolphins at home by a score of 31-6. It was enough for people to give some credit back to the Browns’ defense and their chance to compete any given week, but they need to show something against better competition if they’re going to garner more serious respect. They improved by 1.7 spots this week, and are currently ranked 26.7 on average.
Here is a summary of how the Cleveland Browns are viewed across mainstream media outlets in NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season.
They beat the Dolphins with a nice game by rookie runner Quinshon Judkins and a strong defensive showing. But now they have the hot Patriots on the road.
Jenkins’ role varies from week to week, but his experience and versatility has come in handy as the Browns like to use three-safety packages on defense. The ninth-year veteran has logged snaps at safety, outside corner, nickel back, outside linebacker and inside linebacker, and he’s coming off his best game of the season against Miami. He recorded one tackle, an interception, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery on special teams.
The Browns clobbered a reeling Dolphins club by 25 points, sending Tua Tagovailoa to the bench and smashing the team’s streak of 11 straight games with 17 points or fewer, scoring 31. All good things, if you ask me. I wasn’t going to zoom them up the board nine spots or anything crazy, because the game might have been a little closer than the score indicated, but strong performances — even against dysfunctional teams — deserve to be rewarded. Zero turnovers on offense and dominant stretches on defense were the bottom lines. There are kernels of real encouragement brewing for the Browns, and none are bigger than RB Quinshon Judkins right now. He has the look and feel of an offensive centerpiece who’s headlining a strong rookie class in Cleveland.
The Browns are showing fight at the right time to help save Kevin Stefanski’s job. Rookies Quinshon Judkins, Harold Fanning Jr. and Dillon Gabriel have provide a glimpse of hope for the offense but their jobs were obviously much easier as the defense dumped all over the Dolphins.
Quinshon Judkins is a great find. It didn’t look good when he missed all of training camp with a legal issue, but he didn’t need it. He has 467 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He looks like he could be one of the best backs in the NFL for a while.
The Cleveland Browns are near the bottom of the power rankings because...
