A Mentor, Kent State product, WR Luke Floriea is a diminutive receiver with short area quickness
Around the NFL draft, there are generally two types of players talked about: Drafted and undrafted free agents. There is a third time, although they fit into the undrafted category, that rarely gets talked about, but they have a chance to make a team’s 90-man roster: Minicamp invites.
The Cleveland Browns drafted seven players in the 2025 NFL draft and added, reportedly, 11 undrafted free agents that will be signed for rookie minicamp that starts on Friday. Shortly after the draft, OL Cam’Ron Johnson and LB John Prius were noted as minicamp invites.
Add WR Luke Floriea, Mentor High School and Kent State product, to that list of rookie minicamp invites this year:
In five seasons in the MAC, Floriea caught 100 passes for 1,321 and 12 touchdowns with 2024 his best season (44 receptions, 699 yards and 7 TDs). According to SB Nation’s Hustle Belt site, Floriea’s short-burst quickness was his best athletic trait (RAS score noted) at Kent State’s Pro Day:
They also noted that the Golden Flashes’ offense was limited with Floriea being a “spark plug” thanks to his “good first step” and “route-running prowess.”
The Browns did not select a receiver in this year’s draft and only added, according to reports, one undrafted free agent at the position. Following the draft process, Diontae Johnson was also added to the pass-catching group.
As a rookie minicamp tryout player, Floriea has an uphill battle to even make it to Cleveland’s training camp. If he does, he’ll have a lot of support from Browns fans who always give a little extra to local prospects.
