The Cleveland Browns face off with the New England Patriots in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season. A game that could impact the rest of the season for the Browns holds special meaning for many within the organization, media covering the team, and fans of the orange and brown.

One year ago, “The Voice of the Browns”, Jim Donovan, passed away at the age of 68. Just a month after being inducted into the team’s “Browns Legends,” along with kicker Phil Dawson, Donovan’s battle with cancer took him. Due to his fight with leukemia, Donovan retired from his role in Cleveland after 25 years in his role on the radio.

Interestingly, on this one-year anniversary, the Browns play the Patriots. Donovan, a Boston, Massachusetts native, would have loved to call the game and enjoy some clam chowder. Donovan’s daughter started the day with a tribute to her dad:

The team produced their own celebration of Donovan with many, before and after the tribute, sharing their thoughts and memories of the long-time media personality. How appropriate for the tribute to be audio only:

The social media outpouring was overwhelming and well deserved for The Voice of the Browns:
