The Browns need a QB this year to add to the 96 that have been rostered in their history since 1946
The Cleveland Browns have had a long history with a lot of success but not a lot of that has come recently which has led DE Myles Garrett to seek a trade. While it has not always been as strong as it is today, the need for a quality quarterback to make quick second decisions has always been important in the NFL.
It is why Browns fans are so interested when an NFL draft analyst compares Shedeur Sanders to one of the best QBs in the AFC.
It is also why Garrett is requesting a trade because Cleveland doesn’t have a great quarterback or what seems like hopes for one based on the star defender’s decision.
It hasn’t always been that way for the Browns. As you will see in the table below, there have been some really good quarterbacks among the 96 that have been on the team since 1946. (Thank you for The Football Database)
A lot of things to take note of including that 54 of the 96 quarterbacks have come since the return in 1999 and only 42 for the 50-plus years prior to that. A ton of one-year stints are included in there, not all of which last the whole season, including a lot of names that many will have forgotten about.
For those of you reading this on your phone, the table will look much better if you turn it to landscape mode (turn your phone on its side, the wide way) to scroll.
After you are done, slide down to the comment section and share your thoughts on the long list of Cleveland quarterbacks!
