Browns HC Kevin Stefanski great off an early loss; interesting Bill Belichick comparison

The Cleveland Browns head into Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season coming off a Week 1 loss that should have been a win. The same could be said for the Baltimore Ravens, but we have less grace for a team that is celebrating stealing the team from Cleveland 30 years ago.

The Browns head into the Ravens game as a big underdog, something that DE Myles Garrett has taken notice of. For many Cleveland fans, HC Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry are the problem, even if the Week 1 loss does not fall on the head coach.

Under Stefanski, the Browns have had success coming off of Week 1 losses:

It will be interesting to see which gives in Week 2: Stefanski never being 0-2 or the betting market.

Stefanski’s place in Cleveland’s football history also continues to be up in the air. With 40 victories, the Browns current head coach has already passed Bill Belichick in team history and now sits with the fifth most wins of all time for the team. Just four games behind Marty Schottenheimer and seven games behind Sam Rutigliano, a decent season could see Stefanski take over third place in the pantheon of Cleveland coaches.

This comparison with Belichick is also interesting to note:

Given how things have gone for Belichick since Tom Brady departed, there are some who are questioning his place on the Mount Rushmore of coaches, but the current UNC head coach is still widely lauded.

Week 2 could be a turning point in the season for Stefanski and the Browns or continue to raise concerns about the head coach’s future with the team. Time will tell if Cleveland has the next Belichick and Stefanski’s streak of never being 0-2 continues or if the betting market is on point.
