Even though Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a part of the team’s rebuild, the club is not ready to part ways with the four-time Pro Bowler.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry’s latest comments don’t bode well for the Patriots if they planned on making a play for Garrett.
“Our stance really has not changed,” Berry said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “We’re not interested in moving him.”
Berry added that even if the Patriots or any other team are interested in Garrett, it really doesn’t matter to Cleveland.
“It’s irrelevant to the situation because we don’t have interest in moving Myles,” Berry said, per The Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala.
Garrett formally requested a trade from the Browns on Feb. 3, but Berry doesn’t appear to plan to entertain his desire for a start fresh. The Browns are under no obligation to trade Garrett. He signed a five-year, $125 million extension with the team in 2020, which will keep him with the franchise through the 2026 campaign.
