Dawgs By Nature
Whether fans are excited or dreading it, the Cleveland Browns will be playing in a dome stadium in 2029, barring any major construction delays. The area around the new stadium is expected to be developed in a way to allow for fans and visitors to enjoy more than just a football game or concert when visiting Northeast Ohio.
Construction has begun at the new stadium site in Brook Park and, as expected, a whole lot of dirt will have to be moved in order to complete the project. The primary reason? The Browns new stadium will have to be built deep into the ground due to the airport being next door. In order to be in compliance with height limitations around the airstrip, the new home of the orange and brown will “extend 80 feet below ground level.”
What that means is that all but the upper deck (70% of seating) will be below ground level. We now have a picture of what that will look like with this cutaway:
A slightly larger version of that photo:
It will be interesting to find out how the field’s location so far into the soil impacts the experience for players and fans. Will rain, snow, and extreme temperatures make a difference?
For now, an interesting look at where the Browns and their fans will be once the dome opens in 2029.
What comes to mind when you see the photo above?
