Christian Jones interviewed for the team’s QB coach position, now hired for another role

The Cleveland Browns offseason has all of a sudden become all about DE Myles Garrett and the second overall pick, including if one of the quarterbacks is worth taking there. To start the offseason, the focus was on the Browns coaching changes which included:

All of those moves left a few spots to be filled including Rees’ role as tight ends coach. According to reports, Cleveland has filled that role with New York Giants assistant QB coach Christian Jones:

Jones interviewed for the Browns quarterback coach job a couple of weeks ago.

Last season, Jones was an assistant quarterbacks coach for the New York Giants, having spent three seasons with the organization in total. Three years before that, from 2019 to 2021, he was an offensive quality control coach and an assistant wide receivers coach with the Minnesota Vikings. That 2019 season would line up with when Kevin Stefanski was still on the staff, which gives you a connection between the two (and also, a certain Kirk Cousins was the team’s quarterback at the time).

The team generally announces all the other coaching changes, besides already introducing Rees, near the NFL combine at the end of February.
