Kyle Hoke, Ben Wilkerson and Sanders Davis among new additions, changes to Browns coaching staff

The Cleveland Browns made pretty quick work to move on from OC Ken Dorsey and OL coach Andy Dickerson after the 2024 NFL season ended for the team. In short order, the Browns replaced Dickerson with Mike Bloomgren and then promoted Tommy Rees into Dorsey’s position.

While those moves have already been announced by the team, along with assistant WR coach Callie Brownson’s departure, there have been reports of other coaching moves in Cleveland:

The team made the following coaching moves official including a number of unreported hires and changes:

Role Changes

  • Musgrave to QB coach
  • Stephen Bravo-Brown from special teams assistant to Asst. Wide Receivers coach
  • Nick Charlton from offensive assistant/run-game specialist to pass game coordinator

Coaching Hires

  • Jones as TE coach
  • Morris as Asst. DL coach
  • Sanders Davis as Asst. Offensive Line coach
  • Kyle Hoke Asst. Special Teams coach
  • Ben Wilkerson as Asst. Offensive Line coach

Two assistant offensive line coaches is interesting to note. Davis spent six years at Rice University under Bloomgren as the head coach during that time. Wilkerson has been an NFL coach for 10 years after four years as an NFL player with two teams.

The other new name among the coaches previously not covered is Hoke, who is taking over for Bravo-Brown. Hoke has 13 years of experience at the college level including last season with Texas A&M and played safety in college at Ball State.

What do you think about the Browns hiring two assistant offensive line coaches? Is “more is better” a good idea or do you like pairing two college coaches (Bloomgren/Davis) with a lot of NFL experience (Wilkerson)?
