Browns add linebacker to roster the day after the NFL trade deadline

For most Cleveland Browns fans, the future is the focus at this point in time in the season. Despite a winnable Week 10 matchup with the New York Jets and technically not being out of contention, the Browns hope should lie in the NFL draft.

Our 2026 mock draft for Cleveland should provide Browns fans with hope that the offense can turn things around sooner rather than later.

The 53-man roster only saw one change at the NFL trade deadline and now has two open roster spots that could be filled in NFL free agency. There was also room on Cleveland’s practice squad, which led to the team signing LB Cameron McGrone to that unit on Wednesday:

McGrone (6-1, 236) is in his fourth NFL season out of Michigan. Originally selected by New England in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, McGrone has appeared in 26 career games with the Colts (2022-25), including four this season. He will wear No. 48.

With LB Carson Schwesinger expected to miss multiple games, the Browns linebacking group needs some reinforcements, especially given their role on special teams.

The lack of additions to the 53-man roster on Wednesday likely means the team will sign someone from their practice squad by the end of the week and, likely, activate WR Cedric Tillman from injured reserve.
