Browns 2026 NFL draft: Huge QB Trinidad Chambliss update
Dawgs By Nature Dawgs By Nature

The Cleveland Browns need a quarterback of the future. The hope for many was that Shedeur Sanders could show enough to be that guy (or Dillon Gabriel, for that matter) or that the Browns would lose enough games to have the top pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Instead, questions remain for Sanders and Gabriel, and Cleveland is picking sixth overall in a draft class that many assume will only have two top quarterback options (Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore).

Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss jumped into the conversation during the College Football Playoffs, but most expected him to return to school, if possible. Alabama QB Ty Simpson entered his name into the 2026 NFL draft, but there are a lot of questions about where he should be selected.

Now, a day after falling to Miami in the CFP semifinal, Chambliss might be joining Simpson in this year’s draft as the NCAA has denied his waiver request:

While Ole Miss can appeal, this is the second denial for Chambliss, and it follows a very good showing, overall, which could shoot his draft stock into the Top 10 in 2026.

Chambliss has received comparisons to Brock Purdy and Russell Wilson, among others, for his style of play and ability to make the right read at the right time. There will be a ton of questions about his upside and what led him to spend so much time in Division II, but Chambliss gives the Browns another potential option at the quarterback position in the 2026 NFL draft if the final appeal is also denied.
