Robert Cary McNair Jr., the brother of Houston Texans owner Cal McNair (pictured above) and son of the team’s late founder Robert McNair, is suing the NFL for more than $100 million claiming “alleged tortious interference with contract.”

McNair Jr. is represented in the case by Tony Buzbee, the same attorney who claimed to represent 120 alleged victims of Sean “Diddy” Combs and two dozen alleged victims of former Texans quarterback DeShaun Watson.

Cary McNair (as he is known) is seeking more than $100 million in New York Supreme Court against the National Football League “for alleged tortious interference with contract,” according to a press release published by The Buzbee Law Firm.

“The filing stems from an alleged conspiracy between Houston Texans Owner’s Rep Cal McNair and the NFL wherein the NFL allegedly worked to unseat Cary McNair from his position on the trust board that owns the Texans, and from his position as CEO of the billion-dollar investment arm of the McNair family, McNair Interests,” the statement continues. “The alleged reason for the NFL’s interference was Cary McNair’s repeated and incessant questions and critiques about the multiple scandals involving the Houston Texans football team.”

“We allege that Cary McNair had the courage to voice his concerns about important management issues regarding serious, high-profile scandals involving the Houston Texans,” said Tony Buzbee. “We believe the evidence will be clear and overwhelming that the NFL intervened in the McNair family business to remove Cary McNair from his position as CEO, in an effort to silence Cary McNair. He won’t be silenced.”

Tony Buzbee puts the NFL on blast in legal documents

In the five-page legal document, obtained by Pro Football Talk, Buzbee wrote, “I want to know what lies Cal McNair told the NFL about his brother Cary. I intend to find out why the NFL chose to go out on a limb and take action that it knew would harm my client, while at the same time subjecting the NFL to liability.”

Buzbee also claims the NFL began having issues with Cary McNair after he “spoke out about the Deshaun Watson scandal and questioned the Texans’ handling of it.” More specifically, “why the Texans paid to settle thirty Deshaun Watson cases within months of them being filed, without any investigation or putting up a fight at all?”

He also brought up the NFL’s handling of allegations of rape and sexual abuse that were made against Texans minority owner Javier Loya, and claimed Cal McNair is unqualified to be an Owner’s Representative, as he “claims he obtained an MBA from the prestigious Rice University, although the Rice administration office has stated quite clearly that an individual lacking an undergraduate degree is ineligible to receive a Rice MBA.”

Cary McNair is seeking $60 million in direct financial losses and due to the NFL’s conduct allegedly being “willful and malicious,” he expects to receive “many times that amount as punitive damages.”
