After free agency, the draft, and training camp, the Broncos 53-man roster is now finally set. Since Super Bowl 50, this time of the season has largely filled me with dread. Rolling into the season with Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemien, and… so many others didn’t exactly fill Broncos Country with the kind of excitement many of us took for granted in years prior.
This year is different. Doesn’t it feel different?
Suddenly, Bo Nix is a media favorite. The Broncos defense is starting to get the respect it deserves. There is buzz nationally, locally, and expectations are high.
It used to be this way every year! Grab a chair, youngster, and let me tell you of a time when the Broncos didn’t know what back-to-back losing seasons look like, about the non-shutout streak that went back decades, a time when the fans didn’t have to count down the playclock because the incompetent boob with the headset forgot how to count backward from 40.
Those days are over.
It’s the dawning of a new era in Broncos Country and its sunrise is a brilliant orange. Will there be growing pains this season? There always are. Are the Broncos better equiped to weather those pains? Moreso this year than in any year over the last decade.
The Broncos swagger is back. They have the ownership. They have the coach. They have the quarterback. There is finally talent at running back and wide receiver. There is so much to be excited about with this Denver Broncos team!
Now, they just need to play the games.
