Following in the footsteps of their AFC West rivals, the Broncos also signed their third-round pick today and, in the process, completed the signing of their 2026 rookie draft class. Per Luca Evans of The Denver Post, Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim and Denver have agreed to terms on his rookie contract. Mike Klis of 9NEWS added this evening that the four-year deal will be worth $7.39MM and include a $1.83MM signing bonus.
The second pick of the third round, Onyedim arrived in College Station last year following four years at Iowa State. As a redshirt freshman, Onyedim came off the bench for the Cyclones, playing sparingly as a rotational piece on the defensive line, but he broke out in 2023. As a full-time starter, Onyedim showed his ability to be disruptive with two sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. His usage diminished a bit in his final season in Ames as he only started eight of 13 contests and failed to show the same level of disruption.
Onyedim’s transfer was intended to get him out of the team’s 3-3-5 base defense and provide scouts with more looks at what he was capable of. He found himself in a heavy rotation on a deep Aggies defensive line, but he did establish a starting role. He also returned to his disruptive ways with career highs in sacks (3.5) and tackles for loss (9.5). Onyedim boasts a solid frame, has versatile experience across the positions of the defensive line, and has the tools and drive to compete in the NFL. He’s not exceptional in any one area at this time, but he’s not necessarily weak anywhere either.
That high floor could make for a long career, even if he starts out in rotational role. The Broncos lost a key piece from last year’s line but had solid options waiting in the wings to step up and fill in. With their first pick in this year’s draft, the Broncos selected Onyedim to reinforce the depth on their defensive front. He likely won’t be asked to contribute too much too early, but he could easily become an impactful rotational piece, if needed.
Here’s a final look at the Broncos’ completed draft class for 2026:
