The Broncos rookie punter looks to take advantage of the Mile High air in Denver.

In the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, with their 216th overall selection, the Denver Broncos selected Florida punter Jeremy Crawshaw. The Australian-born punter was viewed as the top punter in the draft and will now be taking his kicking talents to the Mile High air in Denver, Colorado.

General Manager George Paton was asked about Crawshaw after the draft and told reporters they feel like he can do everything a punter needs to do and that they feel strongly about him.

“A big kid, athletic, grew up playing rugby and cricket. This guy’s got a really big leg, and look at his growth that he’s had over the last couple of years. The net wasn’t as high as this year but in the past, we feel like he can do everything: punt for distance, directionally, controlled hang, really good holder, good teammate. We feel really strong about him.”

They showed their confidence in Crawshaw by releasing veteran punter Matt Haack, whom they signed a few weeks prior to the draft. Realistically, Crawshaw was highly likely to win that competition, but releasing his competition right after the draft, with no other competition being brought in, is a pretty solid vote of confidence.

If you look at Crawshaw’s college numbers while at Florida, you can see why they feel so strongly about him. He played a total of five seasons at Florida and had a total of 190 punts for 8,820 yards and averaged 46.4 yards per punt. This past year, he had 59 punts for 2,699 yards and averaged 45.7 yards per punt.

Now, Crawshaw will bring his big leg to the Mile High Air in Denver, Colorado, and look to become a weapon for the Broncos in the kicking game.

Broncos Punter Jermey Crawshaw’s 2025 outlook

All signs point to Crawshaw being the Broncos' starting punter this upcoming season. One, he is the only punter currently on the roster, and two, the fact that they drafted him gives him a pretty good shot at being their starting punter.

The Broncos seem pretty invested in Crawshaw. Not only did GM George Paton tell reporters that they feel strongly about him, but they also showed a lot of interest in him pre-draft. Crawshaw told reporters that he spent a lot of time with Broncos special teams coach Darren Rizzi leading up to the draft.

“I had a fair amount with Rizzi. I spoke to him a couple of times on the phone. He came out to my Pro Day and worked pretty intently with me. Then I got to have a couple of lunches with him as well. I’ve spoken to him a little bit over this process, and it’s been really good for me.”
