The Denver Broncos just had the best and worst news when it came to Bo Nix on Saturday. The Broncos will play in their first AFC Championship Game since the 2015 season. Their quarterback will not be there.
The Broncos are advancing in the playoffs after defeating the Buffalo Bills in overtime on Saturday. The fans were happy. Broncos players were thrilled. Then, the walls came crashing down.
Quarterback Bo Nix fractured his right ankle on the second-to-last play of overtime. His season is over, head coach Sean Payton said. Payton did his normal post-game news conference, but then came back to address reporters and deliver the news.
Nobody could’ve seen this coming.
Nix threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns, per ESPN.
He has been key to the franchise’s resurgence. Nix even risked injury last month to help a player in Kansas City to his feet. Now, his body has failed him at the worst time.
