Alex Palczewski is a versatile lineman who gives the Broncos some much needed depth along their offensive line.

The Broncos signed former Illinois offensive lineman Alex Palczewski to an undrafted free agent contract after the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Broncos' offensive line at the time had opportunities for players like Palczewski to stand out, and that is exactly what happened. During training camp, Palczewski was noted as a player doing well and even receiving some first-team reps. He looked destined to make the Broncos' 53-man roster, but an injury landed him on the injured reserve for the vast majority of the 2023 season.

Due to this injury, Palczewski entered the 2024 season having to prove himself all over again. This time, the versatile lineman stayed healthy and made the Broncos' 53-man roster coming out of training camp. He would go on to appear in 14 games for the Broncos, including 3 starts, and provided the Broncos with some versatile depth along their offensive line.

Now, he enters his third year with the Broncos as one of their top backups along the offensive line, but will face competition for his roster spot this summer.

Broncos OL Alex Palczewski’s 2025 Outlook

Palczewski will compete for a backup role along the Broncos' offensive line. I would say he is favored to be on the 53-man roster, but the Broncos brought in a handful of UDFA’s who could push him for a roster spot. His versatility to play tackle and guard will help him out, along with his experience with the team and in Payton’s offense, but he’ll have to earn it.

The Broncos signed UDFA’s Clay Webb, Xavier Truss, Marques Cox, and Joe Michalski, and have 2024 7th-round pick Nick Gargiulo all competing for roster spots this summer. That’s not including Frank Crum and Alex Forsyth, who made the team last year. So, we will see a good amount of competition for the Broncos' backup offensive line spots during training camp and the preseason.

I think Palczewski is fairly safe, considering he started games last season and held his own, and adds multi-position versatility, but we’ll see. I believe we’ll see Truss and Webb push for roster spots this summer, so we will have to see how it all shakes out.

Final Thoughts

I am intrigued by the Broncos' backup offensive line competition this summer. You have a number of young players pushing for only a handful of roster spots on the 53-man roster. Palczewski, Crum, Forsyth, Gargiulo, Webb, Truss, Cox, and Michalski are an intriguing young group of linemen that the Broncos will have a chance to develop. We will see how it all shakes out, but I am fairly confident that Palczewski will be part of the team come week one.
