Broncos’ offensive line faces depth test with loss of Nick Gargiulo
Mile High Report Mile High Report

The Denver Broncos offensive line took a major hit with the season-ending injury to guard Nick Gargiulo. That opens up some questions with the line depth overall heading into the final preseason game. Last week, the offensive line depth chart looked like this:

  • LT: Garett Bolles, Matt Peart, Frank Crum, Marques Cox
  • LG: Ben Powers, Calvin Throckmorton, Will Sherman
  • C: Luke Wattenberg, Alex Forsyth, Joe Michalski
  • RG: Quinn Meinerz, Nick Gargiulo, Clay Webb
  • RT: Mike McGlinchey, Alex Palczewski, Xavier Truss

Theoretically, this moves Clay Webb into that second-team position. However, that isn’t likely how it will play out. There will be an opening for someone to slide over into that backup role. The question becomes, which player will that be? More than likely that injury opens the door more for veterans like Calvin Throckmorton or Will Sherman.

It looks like the starters might play a bit in the final preseason game, but keep an eye on the right guard position to see who is taking over the reps there.
