Broncos elevate rookie TE Caleb Lohner and WR Elijah Moore for the Bills game
Mile High Report Mile High Report

The Denver Broncos announced that they are elevating rookie tight end Caleb Lohner and former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Elijah Moore from the practice squad to the active roster for Saturday’s Divisional Round game vs. the Bills.

This will be Lohner’s first career NFL game, while this will be Elijah Moore’s first career game with the Broncos and will be against the team that waived him earlier in the year.

These are two very interesting practice squad elevations.

Lohner was a 7th-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft and spent the entire regular season on the Broncos’ practice squad. However, the 6-7 former basketball player was viewed as a long-term project for the team and could be an interesting red zone target for quarterback Bo Nix if he is used at all during the game vs. the Bills. Head coach Sean Payton spoke highly of Lohner’s potential during the offseason and could have something interesting up his sleeve for this game.

As for Elijah Moore, the former second-round pick was signed to the Broncos’ practice squad after being waived by the Buffalo Bills earlier in the season. Now, he will add some depth, speed, and big-play ability to the Broncos’ offense. I would not be surprised if Payton has a few deep shots designed for Moore against his former team in the playoffs.

Sean Payton has had a few weeks to plan for this game, and I doubt these elevations are just a coincidence. While I don’t think either player will have a major role in the game, I do believe that Payton does have a few plays designed for both players. Having something nobody is expecting up your sleeve for a playoff game is something Sean Payton would certainly do.

Hopefully, we see one or both of these players make a big play or two for the Broncos tomorrow and help the team advance to the AFC Championship game.
