The Denver Broncos are wrapping up OTAs on Thursday and are set to begin mandatory minicamp on June 16. While it’s still early in the offseason, Bo Nix was seen at OTAs, as he is working his way back from an ankle injury, but hasn’t been very active. However, head coach Sean Payton shared inspiring news regarding Nix’s status.
Reports indicate that the 26-year-old quarterback will be participating in drills in mandatory minicamp, according to Mike Klis of 9News. It’s not clear how involved Nix will be, but he will be getting back into the mix with his teammates.
“Payton said Bo Nix did some walkthrough Thursday and will be out there for some work next week for minicamp,” reported Klis.
Ideally, the former first-round pick is 100% healthy by Week 1 of the upcoming season. The fact that Nix will be available for mandatory minicamp is a great sign that he’s making the necessary steps in his road to recovery.
Nix suffered a broken right ankle during the Broncos’ 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. The injury forced the second-year pro to miss the Conference Championship Round, where Denver fell 10-7 to the New England Patriots, missing out on Super Bowl LX.
Overall, the 2025-26 campaign was a successful one for Nix and the Broncos. Although the offense was a bit rocky at times, Denver still won a majority of its games, finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record. Bo Nix ended the year with 3,931 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while completing 63.4% of his pass attempts. He also added 356 rushing yards with five scores on the ground.
