For the first time since Peyton Manning retired, Denver is on the verge of being contenders again.
The Denver Broncos can still clinch the final spot in the AFC Playoffs.
Yes, this could have happened already had the Broncos won either of the last two games or both of them. The outcome of both of those games was disappointing.
The fact Denver is even here is pretty freaking incredible.
A rookie quarterback and team predicted to do basically nothing this season speaks to Sean Payton, George Paton, the players, and the path this franchise is on now.
The lack of success since Super Bowl 50 has been difficult. There have been no playoff games, and now there have been just two winning seasons (including this season). Obviously, the cupboards have been empty.
But if Denver wins today, the eight-year playoff drought is over. Yet even if the Broncos come up short, that doesn't diminish the franchise's success this season. It will suck not to make the playoffs. But there's light at the end of this tunnel for the first time since Peyton Manning.
Here's hoping Bo Nix and Denver take care of business today and beat the Kansas City Chiefs. A win takes the final spot in the AFC Playoffs. There is nothing better than the Broncos in the playoffs, and it's been a long freaking time since we enjoyed a Denver playoff game.
If that playoff berth doesn't happen today, no doubt it will sting, and fans will be pissed. But know that it will happen soon. The Broncos are on the verge of becoming contenders again. It’s been a long time coming, and it’s awesome.
