C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love were honorable mentions, but San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy only was listed under the “received votes” portion.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler released his annual QB rankings, where execs, coaches, and scouts rank the NFL’s top 10 quarterbacks for 2025. This list, like most, deserves a giant eye roll.
Patrick Mahomes is first, which doesn’t feel accurate if we go based on what we’ve seen during the past two seasons. It’s OK to change your mind on these as new rankings come along.
After Mahomes, there's Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, who were ranked first. Lamar Jackson is fourth, which boggles my mind. He’s closer to first than fourth. Rookie Jayden Daniels is fifth, followed by Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, and Baker Mayfield.
C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love were honorable mentions. You have to scroll down to “also receiving votes” to find San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. He’s second on the list, after Kyler Murray.
I have a difficult time imagining watching Murray and Purdy and thinking those two are bringing the same level of play to the table. You could make the same argument for Hurts, Mayfield, and Goff — although he’s to a lesser degree after an impressive 2024 campaign.
Do you think we will see Purdy inside the top 10 list now that his contract extension pays him like one of the better quarterbacks in the league? Based on the 49ers' schedule, Purdy will have plenty of opportunities to put up numbers in 2025. Let’s just hope he has somebody to throw it to.
