Only two quarterbacks have passed for more yards than Purdy in the past two seasons. Can he lead the league in 2025?

As training camp approaches for the San Francisco 49ers, attention turns to season-long predictions. While most predictions focus on a team’s record over the 18 weeks of the NFL season, some are eyeing season award predictions and season-long stat lines.
What if I told you Brock Purdy is third in the NFL over the last two seasons in passing yardage? Only Jared Goff (9,204) of the Detroit Lions and Baker Mayfield (8,544) of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have more passing yards than Purdy (8,144), while playing in three extra games than the former Iowa State signal caller. Purdy also attempted fewer than 900 passes while Goff and Mayfield cleared 1,000.
Just so it isn’t lost, Purdy has more passing yards over the last two seasons than Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Matthew Stafford.
The argument can be made that 2024 was a down season for Purdy, yet still the numbers continue to build, even without his number one receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, for the majority of the season.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Purdy is seventh at +1500 to lead the NFL in passing yards. Burrow, Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Goff, Mayfield, and C.J. Stroud are ahead of Purdy in odds. Purdy and Allen are tied at seventh for what it is worth.
While there is no doubt, Burrow has two of the best young receivers in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, a step up in efficiency for Purdy will have the 49ers quarterback firmly in the mix to lead the league in passing yards.
Prescott has George Pickens added to his weapons list, but new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is no doubt intent on running the football much more than Mike McCarthy. Mahomes’ passing prowess has seen a slip in depth of target, and Goff will be under a new offensive coordinator for the first time in Detroit.
Mayfield is an interesting case. Liam Coen departed for Jacksonville, taking his offensive scheme with him. However, Tampa still boasts Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and rookie Emeka Egbuka at the receiver position.
Stroud has a new offensive coordinator and new weapons in Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel to go with Nico Collins and Christian Kirk in Houston.
Another interesting season-long prop for Purdy is his passing touchdown total. A total of 24.5 seems low for Purdy. The over sits at +100 and the under is at -132 currently. After a 2023 season that saw Purdy throw for 31 touchdowns, 2024 was a down year with only 20 passing touchdowns.
The 49ers’ red zone offense struggled mightily. If you are betting on a bounce-back season from Purdy (the...
