The New England Patriots faced several injuries on the left side of their offensive line during Sunday’s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Left guard Jared Wilson suffered an ankle injury and is now considered “week to week,” while left tackle Will Campbell is believed to be dealing with an MCL sprain.
There’s a strong possibility that both players could be sidelined for a few weeks. However, former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer believes that New England’s offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, is crucial for navigating through these injuries.
“This is where you are thankful you have an experienced offensive coordinator who can be creative with the game plan moving forward,” Hoyer said on Tuesday during “WEEI Afternoons”. “Josh has done this so many times before.”
McDaniels is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL and one of the most experienced offensive coordinators in the league. New England’s offense might look a little different without Campbell and Wilson, and there’s a chance that McDaniels will draw up more plays for Drake Maye to get the ball out quickly without his left side of the offensive line.
New England will take on the Giants on “Monday Night Football,” and it’s going to be a massive test for the Patriots with how well New York’s defensive line is.
