Today was the first time Callahan refused to say Will Levis is the Titans starter
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis was benched after his third interception in the 37-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. It was his fourth turnover of the day as Levis had lost a fumble earlier in the contest. It was the first time Levis had been benched for performance. The team had held him out of the win over the Miami Dolphins after he suffered a shoulder injury.
After the Dolphins game, Callahan was adamant that Levis would be the team’s starter when he was healthy. He did not say that today. Callahan said a decision would be made after they reviewed the film. My guess is that we do not see Levis again this season barring an injury to Mason Rudolph.
Levis looked like he had made some progress when he returned after missing three games while nursing the sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. He rattled off a solid four-game stretch that included a 278-yard performance against the Houston Texans where the team scored 32 points.
But the last two weeks have been a disaster. Last week against the worst pass defense in the league, Levis managed just 168 yards and failed to get his team in the end zone. There were multiple plays where he just didn't see a wide open receiver.
That paled in comparison to what we saw today. We have said all along that this season is about finding out what they have in Levis. Callahan sounded today like he didn’t need to see any more of Levis to know that he isn’t the guy going forward. Now the big question is what they do at quarterback for the 2025 season and beyond....
