Steel City Blitz
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, long-time Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin will step down. The move means that the storied franchise will have just its fourth head coach since 1969.
The decision comes on the heels of his seventh straight loss in the postseason. Those games have largely been blowouts or very one-sided affairs. No coach in the National Football League has started their career with more consecutive ‘non-losing’ seasons than has Tomlin but the regular season and the postseason are two very different things.
Speculation will no doubt run rampant as to what Tomlin does next. Television offers are sure to be coming but so too will opportunities to coach elsewhere. The bottom line is that this provides a fresh start for both Tomlin and the franchise.
We’ll have more on this tonight on the SCB Steelers Inside Blitz and on the Podcast Thursday night at 10pmET on our YouTube channel.
