According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, in addition to acquiring Ramsey, the Steelers will also give him a $1.5 million raise for the 2025 season, making his salary $26.6 million. The trade compensation has not been reported.

Ramsey, 30, has been one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL over the last decade. He is a three-time first-team All-Pro in 2017, 2020 and 2021, and a seven-time Pro Bowler from 2017-23. He won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams after the 2021 season.

Initially drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Florida State, Ramsey has now been traded three times, first to the Rams in 2019, then to the Dolphins in 2023 and now to the Steelers.

Ramsey was traded to the Dolphins in 2023, and signed a three-year contact extension with the team in September 2024, but this spring both Ramsey and the team mutually agreed to part ways. The Dolphins needed to wait until after June 1 to make a trade.

The Steelers are a surprising landing spot, with the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers seen as more-likely situation as recently as last week. Ramsey gives the Steelers three starting-caliber cornerbacks, along with Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr.

The Dolphins already paid Ramsey a $4 million roster bonus for this season. He had been due an $18.98 million option bonus on Week 1 and $1.21 million in salary this season, all of which was guaranteed.

Ramsey had been scheduled to earn $25.033 million in 2026, $26.8 million in 2027 and $36.168 million in 2028. None of those salaries are guaranteed.
