The Miami Dolphins are moving on from star running back Raheem Mostert, his agent announced on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, Brett Tessler announced on X/Twitter that the Dolphins informed his client that they’ll be releasing him. Tessler said the veteran running back “will be playing elsewhere next season.”

Mostert agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $9.075 million last year. But the 2023 Pro Bowler finished with only 278 rushing yards and two rushing scores in 13 games, with sophomore De’Von Achane (907 rushing yards) emerging as the team’s lead RB.

Looks like my client Raheem Mostert will be playing elsewhere next season. Very thankful for his time with the Miami Dolphins, and this gives them a chance to get younger and gives him a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere.

Mostert’s release comes one year after he posted career-highs in rushing yards (1,028) and rushing touchdowns (18), with the latter mark leading the NFL. Mostert’s 21 TDs from scrimmage were also tops in football.

The San Francisco 49ers’ 2019 playoff hero joined Miami in 2022 after a six-year stint on the West Coast. He emerged as a key weapon in Mike McDaniel’s offense, leading them to consecutive playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Over his 10 NFL seasons, Raheem Mostert has 3,791 rushing yards, 34 touchdowns and 111 receptions for 899 yards and eight receiving TDs.

Raheem Mostert Will Have A Limited Market

With Mostert about to enter his age-33 season, there likely won’t be much of a market for his services. He showed signs of immense decline in 2024, too, so he’ll likely have to settle for a cheap one-year deal on the open market.
