The Dallas Cowboys are on the board in a VERY BIG way as they have made a trade with the New York Jets for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams!
Jerry Jones teased a trade before the team’s Monday night loss to the Arizona Cardinals and many assumed the Logan Wilson trade that Dallas made on Tuesday morning was the answer (the Cowboys sent the Cincinnati Bengals a 2026 seventh-round pick). This seems like it was it.
Quinnen Williams is one of the most disruptive interior linemen in the NFL and was reportedly someone that Jerry Jones was seeking when the Cowboys were preparing to deal away Micah Parsons. It did not happen then, but it has happened now.
Williams is under contract through the 2027 season so the short-term future of the defense just received a massive makeover.
Initial reports were that Dallas was sending a first-round pick and more and at time of immediate news it was rumored to be the Cowboys’ first-round pick in 2026 and not Green Bay’s that Dallas received in the Micah Parsons trade. Jay Glazer noted that the 2026 pick was expected to be a second-rounder which insinuated that the first-round pick involved (again that will belong to Dallas and not Green Bay) would be in 2027.
We will update this post with full trade details when they are out.
Ed Werder noted that our assumption was correct.
Giving up multiple premium picks is obviously less than ideal, but the Cowboys hold two first-round picks in 2026 which will mitigate the loss of a second.
And if the team is planning on making more preparations to help the 2026 team then surrendering their own first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft is totally fine.
Jordan Schultz reported this as the trade details continued to come out.
What a day.
It is actually whichever pick is better between Dallas and Green Bay that will head to the Jets in 2027.
That makes sense from a Jets standpoint, but what a bummer from ours.
