Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been all over the headlines this week as a new book revealed he sought a solution to avoid becoming a Bear prior to last year’s draft, according to an ESPN report.

ESPN’s Seth Wickersham detailed in his upcoming book “American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback” that Williams and his family met with lawyers to figure out how to do just that.

One plan was to reportedly circumvent the 2024 draft altogether and sign with a team in the United Football League for a year to avoid being chosen by Chicago.

“Chicago is the place quarterbacks go to die,” Carl Williams, Caleb’s father, told Wickersham months prior to the 2024 draft.

The amount of information that came certainly rubbed Boomer Esiason the wrong way.

On his Boomer and Gio sports radio show, the former NFL player annihilated Caleb Williams for his alleged actions, even calling him entitled.

“Keep your mouth shut. You’re going into the greatest league that there’s ever been for the sport we all love,” he said.

“You’re going to have a chance one day to make $500 million because guys like me and guys before me all went on strike so you could actually make more money. So keep your piehole shut and go out and play football and earn your keep and earn your respect.”

Holy Sh*t: Boomer Esiason went OFF on Caleb Williams calling him “entitled” and says he needs to shut up:

Ouch.

Caleb Williams Wanted To Play For Minnesota

The Minnesota Vikings will begin their 2025 season by taking on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football.

Things could’ve been much different if Caleb Williams had his way.

A story that hit ESPN discussed the Bears quarterback and how he and his family were not thrilled about the idea of playing for Chicago, which held the #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Williams’ father, Carl, even stated that Chicago was the place where “quarterbacks go to die.”

There was a team in the NFC North that the younger Williams really wanted to play for.

According to Wickersham’s book, Williams told his father that he wanted to go to the Minnesota Vikings after meeting with head coach Kevin O’Connell.

The soonest Williams can hit unrestricted free agency is in 2028, when his four-year, $39.5 million contract expires.
