After looking like a certified Super Bowl contender down the stretch, disaster struck when Bo Nix suffered a season-ending injury in the AFC Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Jarrett Stidham forced into action against his former team in a game the Denver Broncos ultimately lost 10-7.
While Nix is now a few months removed from a pair of surgeries, fans have openly wondered how he will look when he takes the field later this year, or if his bone spur issue that required going under the knife in April could linger into the future for a quarterback who wins with his legs almost as often as his arms.
Well, Nix was asked that very question at minicamp and made it clear that he isn’t going to let his surgeries affect his 2026 mentally, as he feels healthy and ready to go.
“It will be first time I have been healthy in two years,” Nix said via Troy Renck.
Extrapolating on returning to the field further, Nix explained how exciting it’s been to see his career progress with each season, and how another playoff campaign will take him even closer to a Super Bowl win.
“Well, I think really and truly, once you do it once, you can do it every time. And so for me, it was playing in the playoff game last year, hosting the playoff game this year, win a playoff game this year. And it sort of allows you to go into the next season, really the whole entire season led us up to this,” Nix said.
“But once you win a playoff game, you really feel like you can do sort of anything, especially with the team that we have coming back. We feel very confident that we can start winning these playoff games and host for longer. And so it just, it builds your confidence in a way that you can’t get anywhere else.
“And so just from my experience to be able to play in a game like that, and not like win comfortably, but have to play later in the game. And then have to go into overtime, and it’s a challenge. But like I said, the pressure, it’s a privilege, and I just really enjoy it. And I really enjoy being in those positions, and I really enjoy having football at the end of the day.”
Had Nix stayed healthy, who knows? Maybe the Broncos would have faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in the big game, with a chance for the well-traveled collegiate quarterback to join John Elway and Peyton Manning in the annals of Denver sports history. Fortunately, back to full health, he’ll have a chance to do it again this fall and for years to come.
Bo Nix said winning a playoff game gives him belief that he can do anything.
