Wilson spent two years with the Broncos. They went 4-11 in 2022 and 7-8 in 2023.
The lasting legacy of his brief tenure with Denver was “lets ride.”
Payton only coached Wilson in 2023. He absolutely hated him.
“That was misery, sorrow, drudgery — give me some other adjectives — just, that was brutal,” the Super Bowl champion head coach said of his lone season with the Super Bowl champion quarterback.
The former had enough of the latter come December of that season. Payton tore Wilson a new one during a heated interaction that immediately went viral for all of the wrong reasons.
