The Buffalo Bills lost their first game of the season, a 23-20 decision to the New England Patriots in Week 5. Despite the loss, the Bills are still in first place in the AFC East, second in the AFC, and a 4-1 record overall.
Losing to the Patriots at home stings like little else, but there’s plenty of season left to right the ship. That begins next Monday, when Buffalo travels to take on the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons for Week 6 of Monday Night Football.
Heading into the primetime matchup, FanDuel Sportsbook’s opening odds list the Bills as 4.5-point favorites (-4.5) over the Falcons, with an O/U set at 49.5 points.
Atlanta was on a bye in Week 5, which gave them extra rest ahead of their showdown with Buffalo. After a three-game homestand, the Bills are on the road for the first time since Week 2. Having just dropped a close game to another 2-2 club, how Buffalo responds in Week 6 could say a lot about them in the coming weeks.
The Bills and Falcons have played a total of 13 times since 1973, with Atlanta holding a slight edge in leading the series 7-6 all time. Buffalo last played the Falcons in 2022, winning 29-15 in sloppy weather at Highmark Stadium. Quarterback Josh Allen struggled as a passer in that game, finishing 11-0f-26 for 120 yards and three interceptions. As a runner, Allen was far more successful in gaining 81 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
Allen and the Bills will look for a proper rebound in Atlanta, and in front of another national audience that may be curious to see more about what makes Buffalo click in 2025.
