The Buffalo Bills are signing a new punter, signing 33-year-old Cameron Johnston who comes to Orchard Park, NY by way of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In signing the Geelong, Victoria, AU native, One Bills Drive has also waived punter Brad Robbins.
Tom Pelissero was first to report the news — that, and about the uncanny resemblance Johnston shares with Bill Burr. You may also see similarities between Johnston and a younger Sean McDermott. Johnston has played for three teams, entering the league as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles (2017-2020), then signing with the Houston Texans (2021-2023), all before playing for the Steelers in 2024.
It’s an interesting move by Buffalo’s front office, given Robbins had only played in one game, allowing Baltimore Ravens returners just six yards total on the night. With the Bills, Robbins punted four times for 158 yard (39.5 avg), a long punt of 48 yards, one punt downed inside the 20-yard line.
Buffalo has been in search of the perfect answer at punter since moving on from Sam Martin, who was with the team from 2022 through the 2024 season.
