As the reigning NFL MVP, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will wear a special patch “inspired by the NFL Honors logo) on his jersey for the entirety of the 2025 NFL season. ESPN Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg was first to share the news that Allen will be among a select group of players to wear the NFL Honors-inspired patch.
Allen is one of five players who will sport a gold-hued NFL shield front and center of the collar on game jerseys in recognition of their achievements as Associated Press awards winners for the 2024 NFL season.
Allen was voted the league’s most valuable player days before Super Bowl LIX following an impressive 2024 campaign where he totaled 41 touchdowns. All told, Allen completed 307-of-483 passes for 3,731 yards with 28 passing touchdowns and just six interceptions, and finished with a passer rating of 101.4. Allen further proved to be a triple-threat QB, with 102 carries for 531 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, plus another receiving touchdown off an unforgettable lateral from wide receiver Amari Cooper (stats courtesy of Pro Football Reference).
Allen was named a finalist for AP NFL MVP, ultimately earning the victory over Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
Winning the award was a truly special moment for Allen and his family, and his acceptance speech quickly became a household expression with Bills Mafia. Being named NFL MVP also allowed Allen to cash in on a $1.5 million contract incentive.
Allen’s 2024 season was one for the Bills record books, and marks the first time a Bills player was named AP NFL MVP since Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas earned the distinction following the 1991 season.
