Bills Mafia dejected after loss to Falcons in Week 6
Buffalo Rumblings Buffalo Rumblings

Since Josh Allen came to the Buffalo Bills , fans have had plenty of reasons to be optimistic about their favorite team’s chances. While every season has a number of peaks and valleys, Bills Mafia seems to be at a bit of a crossroads following Monday night’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

After two lackluster performances in primetime games, it’s certainly understandable that the fan base would be frustrated. Heck, I pride myself on being level-headed when it comes to the Bills, yet even I find this team to be maddening and unrecognizable over the past two weeks. Since Monday night’s loss, I found myself working through a myriad of emotions about the team.

My first instinct when it comes to the Bills is to try and stay somewhat calm when it comes to a disappointing loss. With that said, I fully expected Buffalo to bounce back following the lackluster performance against the New England Patriots in Week 5. With each Bills scoring drive, and when the defense stepped up in the second half, I found myself in “trust the process” mode. Unfortunately that didn’t last too long, as frustration fully set in during the loss.

With the trade deadline just a few weeks away, there’s also a feeling that the front office needs to make a significant move to bolster the roster. Cornerback has been an issue since Maxwell Hairston went down four days into training camp, and the safety duo has failed to meet expectation (to put things mildly). Everyone outside of general manager Brandon Beane feels the team is lacking at wide receiver, and injuries at linebacker and defensive tackle have left the team exposed on defense. I have no idea if Beane will make a trade in the coming weeks, but like most Bills fans, I hope that he does something to improve the roster.

The final state of emotions is tied to the group of fans that believe the Bills need to make changes to the front office and coaching staff. If I’m being honest, I very rarely feel this way, as I tend to be a bit more optimistic when it comes to the club and the leadership in place. But today is one of those days where I completely understand the frustration related to the front office and coaching staff.

Under no circumstances do I expect team co-owner Terry Pegula to make any major changes during the season, but the seats for the general manager and head coach could heat up a bit if the Bills don’t show some improvement in the near future.
