It’s a training camp battle that’s expected to carry loads of intrigue, where Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, and rookie Skyler Bell are likely to find themselves best-positioned for the opportunity.
The top of Buffalo’s starting receivers chart feels well defined, with DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir in the WR1 and WR2 roles, respectively. But things are far muddier beyond them.
Many will quickly point out that any conversation about WR3 also needs to carry an asterisk leading to tight end Dalton Kincaid’s involvement as a pass catcher. Kincaid’s role may supersede the production from whoever is named the Bills’ starting WR3.
Even if Kincaid’s featured role wasn’t in consideration, it may be wise to temper production expectations with so much unresolved in the receivers room. More than anything else, Buffalo needs to develop consistency with their wide receivers at all levels. Have they done everything necessary to role out a more diverse group of veteran receivers?
We’ll find out the answers to that only when the games count. You can be certain that plenty of hype will follow the group through training camp and preseason. It’s impossible to deny that Moore represents the clearest path at elite WR1 production since Stefon Diggs’ departure. He should draw plenty of coverage away where Shakir, Coleman, Palmer, and Bell could find room to shine.
So who do Rumblers believe wins the starting WR job in 2026? It might surprise some to learn that it’s Keon Coleman, who received almost half the votes (46%). There are big expectations and a massive amount of weight on Coleman’s shoulders this season.
Everyone paying attention wants to see that Coleman’s matured and proves willing to do the little things necessary to play at an elite level in the NFL. That includes all the off-field in-week prep. With a new head coach in Joe Brady as someone who said the best thing to happen to Coleman was his promotion to HC, it may be a proper reset season for the former second-round pick.
In a distant second is the rookie, Skyler Bell, who earned 29% of the vote. This seems like a surprising result, simply because he’s a rookie who has plenty to work on before vaulting others in the room. It feels like Bills Mafia is high on Bell simply because he’s the new guy in the mix, and someone many hoped the team would draft. Bell will need to show out, proving to be a more reliable-hands target with a commitment to refining and deepening his route tree.
