Buffalo Rumblings

We’ve asked it before, but we’re doing it again: Are the Buffalo Bills back? The Bills just handed the New England Patriots their first loss in 11 games, and have climbed back to within one game of a share in the AFC East lead. It’s still going to be a massive hill to climb to re-claim the East, especially now with the Miami Dolphins having benched quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
It’s quite likely that Buffalo’s loss earlier this to those Dolphins in South Beach ends up being the game they regret most, because there are few who believe Miami has a real chance at this point to make things interesting in Week 18 up in Foxborough, MA.
It’s the bed Buffalo’s made and, to be honest, it may not matter a great deal where the Bills slot in for this year’s playoffs. Sure, getting a bye is massive and now all but locked up for the Denver Broncos. The truth is that this season’s AFC playoff field might look quite different to Buffalo, and there’s every reason to believe that the Bills have just as good a shot to go all the way as in years past — maybe more.
That’s a pretty good place to be for the Buffalo Bills, no? Buffalo has games left against at the Cleveland Browns, and two home games to close the original Highmark Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. That’s not the worst position to be in during the holidays. Did Buffalo serve up a reality check to the rest of the NFL last weekend?
