Following their heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, Buffalo Bills fans are now turning on head coach Sean McDermott and are calling for him to be fired. McDermott is 0-4 against Andy Reid’s Chiefs in his postseason career.
While Sean McDermott has done an excellent job with the Buffalo Bills since being hired in 2017, taking them from being a directionless, below average franchise to perennial AFC contenders.
Unfortunately for McDermott and therefore the Bills and their fans, however, “perennial AFC contender” seems to be their ceiling under the head coach, as they’ve yet to be able to get over the hump that is the Kansas City Chiefs and reach the Super Bowl.
As a result of their latest loss to the Chiefs, Bills fans are now turning on McDermott and are calling for him to be fired, as they believe he’s taken the team as far as he can and cannot afford to waste any more years of Josh Allen’s prime.

The argument I’m seeing of “Who are you going to get better than McDermott” is absurd.

“Like I’ve been telling Bills fans for 4 seasons, they just aren’t getting over the hump with Sean McDermott… you cant get outcoached anymore than this… Andy Reid is like Michael Jordan against Muggsy Bogues here… the final drive from Joe Brady and McDermott was the worst and most conservative coaching I’ve seen in over 30 years,” read one tweet after the game.
“I mean eventually the Bills have to fire Sean McDermott cuz how many times can you watch him get out coached by Andy Reid in January before you decide to stop wasting Josh Allen’s prime,” assessed another football fan.
“Every time they show Sean McDermott on the sideline it’s very obvious they’re never going to win a Super Bowl. Just a look. You can tell,” a third added.
“Sean McDermott has done a really good job in Buffalo and Sean McDermott has reached his apex with the Bills. Both can be true. If Buffalo ever wants to beat the Chiefs when it matters, they would beg Bill Belichick to coach them,” said a SiriusXM host.
Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will kick off from the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
