Do not get your hopes up.

The Buffalo Bills will start their 2025 preseason slate with a game against the New York Giants in Orchard Park on Saturday. This game will also be the annual kid’s game as it is the only home preseason game the Bills will have before kicking off the regular season against the Baltimore Ravens. However, the kids may not be happy with who will be suiting up to play in the game this weekend.

While speaking to the media on Thursday morning, head coach Sean McDermott announced that quarterback Josh Allen will not play in the game. McDermott said that it bothers Allen not being out there with his teammates but added that he has to do what is best for the health of Allen. Mitch Trubisky will be getting the start in place of Allen with Mike White being his backup.

As for the other starters, they will play about a quarter of action. McDermott did note that when it came to players on the injury list, do not be surprised if you see them warming up but end up not playing in the game. One of those players could be starting right tackle Spencer Brown who is working his way through some back tightness he has had throughout camp.

This is not uncommon for the Bills to not play their starters much in the preseason. The team is known to take it easy on Allen to make sure that he is walking into Week 1 fully healthy. Although the downside is the potential rust the team could have walking into that showdown with the Ravens. We saw the team get off to a slow start in Week 1 last season against the Arizona Cardinals and the year before against the New York Jets.

Who are you most excited to see Saturday?
