The son of a former Bills defensive back also has a connection with cornerbacks coach Jamahle Addae.
One of the Buffalo Bills’ 2025 undrafted free agents (UDFA) to keep an eye on is cornerback Daryl Porter Jr. He could make some noise this summer, so let’s take a look at what Porter brings to the gridiron.
Porter is a South Florida native and graduate of American Heritage High School, a south Florida football powerhouse. He began his college career at West Virginia University before transferring to the University of Miami. Porter impressed as a redshirt freshman at West Virginia in 2021 and after transferring to Miami he became a two-year starter for the Hurricanes.
During his college career, Porter totaled 108 tackles, 18 pass defended — 10 over the last two seasons — and one interception. He worked closely with Jamahle Addae (current Bills cornerbacks coach) during his time at WVU and Miami. He’s also the son of former NFL defensive back Daryl Porter Sr., who spent time with the Bills between 1998 and 2000.
Standing 5’9 ½” and weighing 185 pounds, Porter has primarily lined up as a boundary corner — typically on the right side. While his size is considered ordinary for the position, and he posted a modest 4.65-second 40-yard dash at the University of Miami Pro Day, Porter consistently made up for those limitations with sharp instincts, physical play, and a natural feel for timing his attacks at the catch point to break up passes.
One of Porter’s standout traits is his aggressiveness as a tackler. He isn’t just willing in run support. Porter thrives there, diagnosing plays quickly and delivering technically sound hits.
His ability to mirror receivers early in routes is another strength, although he can struggle against the NFL’s fastest receivers downfield due to his average speed.

While Daryl Porter may not come with first-round size or stopwatch speed, he offers a proven skill set that translates to several key defensive roles the Bills need: depth at boundary corner, his work ethic in the run game, and a contributor on special teams.
His connection with Addae and his background suggests he’ll have a strong understanding of expectations if given an opportunity in Buffalo. As an aggressive run defender who excels in press-man cover...
