Bill Belichick’s grudge against his former employer, the New England Patriots, had reportedly taken another bizarre turn this week.
After falling to 2-3 following a 38-10 loss to Clemson, a surprising report emerged on Monday about North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick. According to 24/7 Sports and CBS Sports college football reporter Ross Martin, the coach directed his staff not to post or repost on X topics related to the Patriots.
There are several former members of the Patriots organization working under Belichick at North Carolina, and Martin claims that is why none of them made any mention of New England’s huge 23-20 Sunday Night Football win over the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

In August, the first reports emerged about the 73-year-old beef with New England when it was revealed he banned all Patriots scouts from attending UNC practices. Following the news, the legendary NFL coach was asked about the rumored ban and did not deny it.
“It’s clear I’m not welcome there around their facility. So they’re not welcome at ours. It’s pretty simple,” Belichick told the media after UNC’s 20-3 win over Charlotte in Week 2.
The six-time Super Bowl winner has one of the greatest resumes in professional coaching history. Over 24 seasons in New England, Bill Belichick posted a 266-121 record and led his team to the NFL championship game on nine occasions. However, after the departure of iconic quarterback Tom Brady, his grip over the team program started to weaken.
After only one losing season over his first 20 years as head coach, Belichick’s Patriots teams managed just one winning season in the three years after Brady left. Then, in 2023, the team had a disastrous 4-13 showing that was the final straw for owner Robert Kraft. However, to try and save face for the legendary coach, he and Belichick announced that they had agreed to part ways. Instead of outright firing him.
However, it seems that never sat well with Belichick, and the proof is in the weird rebukes of his former team now as the head of North Carolina’s program. This surely won’t be the last time we get more evidence that Belichick has real hate for his former team.
