Bill Belichick preached the philosophy of not letting distractions get in the way of football, but he might have waned on that teaching in his final years with the New England Patriots.
Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, have been oddly vague about how they met. There are multiple theories as to why, but the basic story is they met on a JetBlue flight in 2021 and bonded over psychology. How their romance grew isn’t known.
However, a New York Times report by Katherine Rosman revealed Hudson spent time in Foxboro, Mass., in 2023.
“When she attended training camp practices, she often wore red pants at the request of Mr. Belichick, so that he might more easily spot her in the crowd, according to a person who knows Mr. Belichick and who spoke on the condition of anonymity because Mr. Belichick had not given him permission to speak to reporters,” Rosman wrote.
“That fall, when the Patriots played at Gillette Stadium and stayed at a nearby hotel the night before home games — as mandated by team policy — Ms. Hudson frequently joined Mr. Belichick there, according to the person who knows Mr. Belichick.”
New England went 4-13 that season, and that ended up being Belichick’s last season with the Patriots.
It might be a stretch to say Belichick’s desire to seek out Hudson during training camp by having her wear red pants didn’t help the Patriots. New England’s lack of talent played more of an impact than his romance with the 24-year-old, but it still is funny to think about the weird things behind the scenes between Belichick and Hudson during one of the worst seasons in Patriots history.
