With plenty of stars still available this offseason, could DK Metcalf’s rival end up in Seattle?

As we head into the summer months of the NFL offseason, there are still a few big storylines and questions that need to be answered before training camps. One of those big questions is where will Super Bowl champion cornerback Jalen Ramsey end up in 2025.

Ramsey, one of the game’s best corners, is entering his age 31 season and the final year of his three-year, $72 million extension after being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Miami Dolphins. The seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Proseems to be at a crossroads for his career and the team he is currently on. After making four consecutive Pro Bowls, Ramsey and the Dolphins had a major setback in 2024. Injuries and poor play have brought into question if Miami should sell this offseason and begin to rebuild, while Ramsey could potentially be that piece, if he’s still a star level corner in the NFL.

After the qualifying offer penalty was removed after June 1st, many expected Ramsey would already have been traded, yet here he remains. Both sides have made it clear that they are moving on, so why hasn’t he found a home yet?

Aside from his age, injury, and a 2024 campaign that was below his standards, he also has a massive cap hit for 2025. Entering the final year of his deal. Ramsey is set to make $25 million this year. The Dolphins have already paid his $4 million bonus, so the trading team would need to take on $21 million.

Obviously, this is the biggest driving force as to why he hasn’t been traded yet. Miami has stated they would be willing to take on some money to enable a trade. With the rumors that the Dolphins may also trade star tight end Jonnu Smith, it really feels like Miami is ready to reboot and collect draft picks.

Why the Seattle Seahawks may be interested

So with all this information, you may be asking why Ramsey would even be considered by John Schneider, Mike Macdonald, and the Seattle Seahawks? While that is a fair question, I do a path where this makes sense.

Ramsey is a veteran of the NFC West, and has immense experience and knowledge of all the West squads, especially the Rams. So much so, that it appears the Rams are the only team we currently know that is involved in the Ramsey sweepstakes. If Seattle truly wants to get back to playoffs, the door still goes through the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in my opinion. Watching your rival that has kept you out of the postseason by a game the past two years reunited with Ramsey would be a tough pill to swallow.

Jalen has also been on some pretty impressive defensive rosters. From the 2017 ‘Sacksonville’ Jaguars to the Hall of Fame loaded defense on the Rams Super Bowl winning team, Jalen...
